MACO SPONSORS AT THE COTTON TREE GOLF TOURNAMENT

MACO Magazine and the Cotton Tree Foundation shared a fun-filled day while generating, along with other sponsors, TT$250, 000 in donations for charity at the first Cotton Tree Golf Tournament on April 21 st . Local legends like Sir Vivien Richards, Brian Lara, Desmond Haynes and Ian Bishop competed and gave support to the venture, while Deryck Murray, President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) lent his support by attending the prize giving. The English Cricket Team along with English Captain Michael Vaughn came out and contested fiercely. Media coverage was ample enough, from local newspapers and magazines to yours truly, MACO Magazine.

Combining forces, MACO sponsored a team in the tournament and Managing Director of Toute Bagai Publishing, Neysha Soodeen, presented a prize for ‘Most Tired Player' to renowned calypsonian David Rudder, who had just flown in from Canada . Coordinated by the Cotton Tree Association, The Tournament was held to raise funds for initiatives such as the Legal Aid Clinic, Sports Programs, and Educative Arts Programs for the less privileged members of the community to assist areas like St. Anns, Cascade, Belmont , East Dry River and their environs.

The Cotton Tree Foundation has strived, since 1994, to assist the people of the community, especially children, and have gradually gained the support of companies such as Republic Bank Limited, BP Trinidad and Tobago LLC, RBTT Bank Ltd., the Embassy of Japan, the Embassy of the United States of America , and many others. Thanks to support from the citizens and the corporate sector, several simple but highly effective programs have been implemented and maintained. However there is so much more to be done, and the Cotton Tree Foundation is far from finished.

The tournament showed once again MACO's role as more than corporate, being actively involved in the society around it and striving, in all ways, to promote the potential of the Caribbean . To find out how you can help go their website at www.cottontreefoundation.org
